Manufacturing process of cob light source
The process of COB chip on board (COB) is to first cover the silicon wafer placement point on the substrate surface with thermal conductive epoxy resin (generally epoxy resin doped with silver particles), then directly place the silicon wafer on the substrate surface, heat treat until the silicon wafer is firmly fixed on the substrate, and then use wire welding to directly establish electrical connection between the silicon wafer and the substrate.
Advantages and disadvantages of high-power cob light source
Advantages:
Compared with discrete LED devices, COB light source modules can save the primary packaging cost of LEDs, the production cost of light engine modules and the secondary light distribution cost in applications. In the lighting fixture system with the same function, the actual measurement can reduce the light source cost by about 30%, which is of great significance for the application and promotion of semiconductor lighting. In terms of performance, through reasonable design and microlens molding, COB light source modules can effectively avoid the disadvantages of point light and glare in the combination of discrete light source devices; it can also effectively improve the color rendering of the light source without significantly reducing the efficiency and life of the light source by adding appropriate red chip combinations. In terms of application, COB light source modules can make the installation and production of lighting fixtures simpler and more convenient, effectively reducing the application cost. In terms of production, the existing process technology and equipment can fully support the large-scale manufacturing of COB light source modules with high yield. With the expansion of the LED lighting market, the demand for lamps is growing rapidly. Disadvantages:
COB LEDs require more materials, such as phosphors and silica gel, in manufacturing, and have no cost advantage. In addition, the serial and parallel mode of COB LEDs is fixed at the factory, which is not as free as a single high-power LED to match the quantity and color, adjust the color temperature and electrical parameters.
